The building, made of a prefabricated wooden structure and assembled in just eight months, served as a temporary replacement for the Nef du Grand Palais during its renovation. It hosted cultural events, sports competitions, and various exhibitions.
During the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, it was renamed "Arena Champ de Mars" and served as the venue for Judo, Wrestling, Para-Judo, and Wheelchair Rugby events.
Located in a protected UNESCO site, the building had to achieve excellent performance in terms of thermal comfort, acoustics and flexibility.
